We started our homeschooling journey the beginning of this school year. We knew when our son was born that we would be teaching him at home. Closer to him starting Kindergarten I researched every program I could find. I printed all the samples, read reviews and watched YouTube videos. I wanted curriculum that was secular and used a variety of methods of learning.
I have organized our materials many times. I am a bit of an organizing nut so my family seems pretty used to it. While we have a set homeschooling area I like to have things ready to go also. The bed, the floor and the backyard are all places we have taken school work.
In the beginning I purchased a bag I could toss in whatever we were going to be working on. I researched everywhere and every type of bag and chose this one due to having separate pockets and enough room the add my file holder. The file holder makes it sturdier. I keep an extra set of crayons, pencils, scissors and glue in the bag so we always have them handy when using it.

One of the portable items I made involved our Base 10 blocks. I put together a kit of tens and ones with magnets on the back. I purchased a magnet roll from Walmart and used my glue gun to secure them on each piece. We use them on a small magnetic white board. Also in the box are place value dice. You roll each one to tell him how many tens and ones he needs to display. I can use them on the smaller whiteboard anywhere or our larger wall whiteboards. I keep the set of magnetic blocks in a small container.
